Covid-19 Lockdown Update

Covid-19 Lockdown Update for Acle Marina Berth Holders – 5th November 2020

Following an announcement from the Government on 31st October 2020 that further lockdown restrictions will apply to England from Thursday 5th November 2020, and the subsequent passing of legislation in Parliament on Wednesday 4th November 2020; we are now in a position to confirm the following information to all berth holders at Acle Marina having received guidance from British Marine, The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), The Broads Authority, Norfolk Constabulary, DEFRA and our insurers.

Boat Use During Lockdown – Overnight stays and holidays are not allowed. This includes overnight stays on a boat if it is not your normal residence. Day trips on private or hire boats are not permitted as this is non-essential travel.

Boat Maintenance During Lockdown – Winterising boats and other planned maintenance by the general public is not permitted under the restrictions as it is not classed as ‘essential travel’.

Marina Opening – Although we have been advised by TYHA that, at this time, the Marina “may remain open for business services including boatyard, boat servicing and tenants”, with no berth holders permitted by current legislation to visit their boat for any reason you will be pleased to hear that we have taken the decision to close the Marina with immediate effect for the duration of the lockdown period to ensure the most secure environment for your vessel. As with the previous lockdown we shall be completing regular checks on mooring lines / covers and general boat security. Any issues arising as a result of these checks will be relayed to the boat owner where necessary.

Whilst historically the majority of berth holders do not visit their boats at all during the winter months, we fully understand that some of you may now have concerns with regards to winterising and preparing your craft for the off-season. Whilst legislation now prevents boat owners from visiting their boats during this period, visits by contractors to complete work of this nature is clearly permissible. Any outside contractor visit must be pre-booked with our South Walsham office and a copy of the contractors public liability insurance provided before they will be permitted on site.

Marine Tech Services – Marine Tech workshops will remain open during this lockdown period and our technicians will continue to work on vessels at the Marina as instructed. Marine Tech showrooms are closed and our offices operating at reduced capacity to reduce the risk of virus transmission.
