ACLE MARINA – COVID-19 UPDATE: 13TH MAY 2020

ACLE MARINA, NORFOLK BROADS – COVID-19 UPDATE: 13TH MAY 2020

Further to the latest up-date from the Broads Authority issued on 13th May 2020, we would like to issue the following information to all berth holders at Acle Marina.

Whilst use of motor boats is now permitted by the Broads Authority with immediate effect, guidance with regards to re-opening of Marina’s remains unclear. We were originally instructed to close the Marina under government guidance issued with regards to campsites and caravan parks. Since this instruction we have received no up-dated guidance informing us that we no longer come under the campsite and caravan park “umbrella”. Until such guidance is forthcoming we therefore have to assume that we remain under the same restrictions. Guidance issued by the government on Sunday 10th May 2020 clearly states that campsites and caravan parks must remain closed. With this in mind, and fully appreciating how keen you all are to return to your boats, we have taken the decision to reinstate berth holder access to their vessels, entirely at your own risk and subject to the following being strictly adhered to –

Opening times – The Marina gates will be opened at 08:30 each morning and locked at 18:00 in the evening. No over-night stays at the Marina are permitted. Please ensure that any distance travelled on your boat allows for return to your berth in sufficient time. Any berth holder still on their boat when gates are locked will asked to leave the Marina immediately. Norfolk Constabulary have advised this morning that overnight stays on pleasure craft will, in their eyes, be treated use of a second home and people staying on their boats will be at risk of prosecution and fines in line with current government guidance.

Facilities – All shared facilities at the Marina will remain closed until further notice. This includes toilets, showers and refuse disposal. Berth holders are to take all refuse with them when they leave the site. The slipway remains closed other than for use by the emergency services.

Social Distancing – Social distancing guidance as issued by the government is to be followed at all times. Only members from your own household are permitted on-site – no friends, neighbours, other guests or members of your family outside or your household. Whilst on the Marina please restrict your movements to an area directly adjacent to your own boat only.

Hygiene – Please avoid touching anything not associated with your own vessel wherever possible. Taps and service towers are to be sanitised using your own suitable products after each use to prevent virus transmission. Only your own water hose and other equipment should be used.

Contractors – Contractors already registered with the office are permitted to attend your boat as required, within the stated opening times and provided that social distancing rules are adhered to.

Marine Tech Services – Marine Tech workshops remain closed and we are unable to provide engineering or other services until further notice. Quayside services at our South Walsham site have been closed with immediate effect to reduce the risk of virus transmission.

Office – The Marine Tech office at South Walsham remains open at reduced capacity to answer your queries and offer advice, however you are asked not visit the office under any circumstances. All enquiries should be made by phone or email.
