Outboard Engines Yamaha

Whether you're a recreational boat owner or a busy professional, choose the engine that will make your boat perform better.

Every engine in the Yamaha range uses the latest Yamaha marine technologies, engine layouts and ingenious intake and exhaust systems. Yamaha's 4-stroke development has been so successful because we build only pure marine-specification 4-stroke engines from scratch - rather than adapting ordinary automotive or power equipment engines.

Plus Yamaha's specially designed marine engines don't compromise on power, performance or usability, yet still help preserve our marine environments through the use of pioneering clean-burn technologies.

Yamaha Outboard Engines:

F2.5 AMHS Short Shaft Outboard

360º steering

Take the F2.5 on to the water and you'll soon appreciate how wonderfully agile it is. Full 360º steering offers exceptional manoeuvrability, and makes it much easier to get into tight spots. The tiller easily folds back for reversing and the control cables are protected inside the tiller arm so they wont get in the way.

Built-in fuel tank

To really get out there, you need to know you've got room for all the necessary gear, whether it's an extra box of bait for the fish, or an extra cooler of refreshments for you. To give you more space inside your boat, the F2.5 has a built in fuel tank, eliminating the need for an external tank.

Shallow Water Drive system

You can cruise towards the shore with confidence thanks to Yamaha's Shallow Water Drive system. This offers protection for your propeller, whether you're in a murky lake or crystal clear shallows of the sea, so you can get as close as you need to be.

Steering friction adjustment

You'll find the F2.5 incredibly easy to control, thanks to the single-lever steering friction and throttle adjustment. This allows steering and throttle to be easily adjusted when you're out on the water, and ensures that you have great stability and control, even at high speed.

TCI Ignition System

You want the fun to start as soon as you get on to the water, and the engine to purr with the minimum of fuss. Yamaha ignition systems are 'solid state' components with no moving parts - a design which allows them to deliver the reliable starting and consistent performance for which Yamaha outboards are renowned across the globe.

Yamaha's Ideal Anti-corrosion Protection

You need an engine you can rely on. Yamaha outboards are renowned for their durability and how well they hold value. Central to this is the unique YDC-30 aluminium alloy that protects the engine's exterior parts, and a zinc coating, high-quality stainless steel, and 5-stage exterior coating for long-lasting protection inside and out.

Strong tiller handle with large twist-grip throttle

The F2.5's strong tiller handle with twist-grip throttle allows easy and comfortable control of the engine for superb handling and manoeuvrability, and the side shift selector is simple and convenient to use.

Fresh Water Flushing System

An easy-access, front-mounted connector lets you flush salt and dirt from the waterways without having to run the engine. It's a very efficient way to reduce corrosion and extend the life of your engine - just connect a hose and you're ready to go.

You can cruise towards the shore with confidence thanks to Yamaha's Shallow Water Drive system. This offers protection for your propeller, whether you're in a murky lake or crystal clear shallows of the sea, so you can get as close as you need to be.

'Start-in-gear' protection

With this kind of power, a false start can give you a serious jolt. But Yamaha's 'Start-in-gear' protection eradicates such worries. On manual start models, the starter is locked when in any gear other than neutral. On electric start versions, the power supply to the starter motor is isolated until neutral is engaged.

The Yamaha 4-Stroke Advantage

Yamaha engines combine the lightness, compactness and reliability of our original 2-stroke models with all the benefits of 4-stroke technology, like economy, smoothness, and being gentler on the environment. We're proud that all Yamaha marine engines are designed from scratch - rather than relying on existing designs from automotive products.

They’re tough too, with permanent magnet motors, damage resistant casings and a special composite drive shaft that won't bend break or corrode in normal use.

All Yamaha Electric Drives are fitted with a special Weedless Wedge propeller that maximises thrust and is specially designed to resist trailing weeds and other underwater debris.

FT9.9 GEL High Thrust Long Shaft Outboard

Fresh Water Flushing System

An easy-access, front-mounted connector lets you flush salt and dirt from the waterways without having to run the engine. It's a very efficient way to reduce corrosion and extend the life of your engine - just connect a hose and you're ready to go.

High-output Alternators

Never get left short. A standard feature on our FT series of outboard engines, the High-output Alternator means that power is always available to start the engine even after prolonged periods of idling - or when you've been running at low revs and using lots of accessories.

Shallow Water Drive system

You can cruise towards the shore with confidence thanks to Yamaha's Shallow Water Drive system. This offers protection for your propeller, whether you're in a murky lake or crystal clear shallows of the sea, so you can get as close as you need to be.

CDI/TCI Ignition Systems

Yamaha ignition systems are 'solid state' components with no moving parts - a design which allows them to deliver the reliable starting and consistent performance for which Yamaha outboards are renowned across the globe.

Advanced warning systems

Yamaha engines are renowned for their reliability and how well they hold their value. The systems on our FT series measure oil pressure, engine temperature and other key conditions to give clear audio/visual warnings of any problems. If a fault occurs, the rpm is automatically reduced, ensuring maximum engine protection as you head for shore.
